Uniswap v3 Risks

Concentrated liquidity can be capital efficient, but it creates active range and inventory risk.

#Out-of-range positions

A v3 position earns trading fees only while active liquidity covers the current price. Outside the selected ticks, it can become almost entirely one token. Returning in range depends on market movement or a user-managed position change.

#Impermanent loss

Liquidity provision changes the token mix as price moves. Compared with simply holding both assets, the position can lose relative value. Narrow ranges can make that inventory shift more pronounced.

#Fee-tier and volume risk

Trading fees depend on actual volume, competition from other liquidity, the selected fee tier, and time in range. A configured fee tier does not promise fee income or offset adverse price movement.

#Price and oracle risk

Spot prices can move sharply or be manipulated in thin pools. Displayed prices and quotes must not control on-chain reward entitlement. TWAP or external references can also lag or fail.

#Integration risk

WeedSwap relies on the configured factory, position manager, router, quoter, and pool contracts. Incorrect addresses, unexpected interfaces, proxy changes, or chain configuration errors can invalidate a transaction flow.

#NFT custody

Direct positions are user-controlled until placed in the v3 staker. While deposited, withdrawal follows the staker’s recorded-owner and active-stake rules. Vault users never directly own the underlying NFT.

#Token risk

Either pool token can fail, upgrade, blacklist, pause, rebase, charge fees, or lose market value. A permissionless Uniswap pool existing for a pair does not establish that either token is safe or officially supported.

#Before adding liquidity

  • Verify token and integration addresses.
  • Understand both assets and the selected fee tier.
  • Choose a range whose inventory behavior you accept.
  • Set protective minimums, slippage, and a short deadline.
  • Plan how you will monitor, unstake, and withdraw the position.
